Rosemont Market + Wine Bar is a unique dining experience located in the heart of Charlotte’s Elizabeth Neighborhood. This “Gourmet & Go” concept serves as a casual counter service market during breakfast and lunch, and switches to a full-service restaurant with chef-driven menu for dinner and weekend brunch.

The relatively small footprint needed to accommodate a full kitchen that could efficiently produce four different menus. The design needed to clearly divide the market and dining areas while maintaining cohesion between the two. The client’s goal was to be casual and approachable as they catered to daytime patrons, but upscale enough to reflect the elevated culinary options and draw in customers from the greater Charlotte metro area in the evenings. 

Our team created a design that addresses each of these challenges. The food service areas were strategically planned to optimize use of space and staff efficiencies. The bar is centrally located between the market and dining areas with operable windows that open to the outdoor bar and patio. This bar serves as an inviting spot to work remotely with a cup of coffee or enjoy a glass of wine with friends at night. A low millwork feature separates the market and dining areas, with a long banquette on one side and doubling as retail space for wine bottles on the other. This creates a clear delineation between the two areas and divides circulation, while maintaining a visual connection.

Natural wood tones, faux brick tile, and furniture with clean simple lines create an effortless classic look that is warm and friendly while also conveying sophistication. A variety of lighting types were specified to create layers of light and interest throughout the space. Full dimming controls were installed to allow for flexibility in the ambiance between day and night.
