Webb Custom Kitchen, located in Historic Downtown Gastonia, offers guests the unique dining experience of modern luxury merged with authentic historical significance. Originally constructed in 1927 as The Webb Theatre, this movie house, identified by its downtown marquee, is an icon for the city’s longtime residents. A desire to maintain intricate historical details alongside streamlined modern features informed the renovation. In a nod to the performance that modern cooking has become, the space plan is oriented with the same function as the theatre, only this time, the kitchen takes center stage. Seating is arranged in intimate, high back booths against a backdrop of large scale, floor-to-ceiling arches. Colors, rich and saturated, are combined with warm wood tones and the texture of exposed brick. All of it, illuminated by abstract art deco light fixtures that pay homage to the building's past.
